Preparing specifications for purchases of mechanical equipment and materials and estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation for generation projects
Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential mechanical engineering projects and studies and provide technical support to other departments and personnel as needed
Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities
Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations
Evaluate and review mechanical equipment and piping size and layouts
Construction drawing reviews of P&ID, and equipment layouts
Collaborate with customers, coworkers, and others to discuss existing or potential mechanical engineering products or projects and monitor project progress and budget, and prepare reports for upper management
Equipment drawing and vendor submittal reviews
Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving mechanical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for industrial, commercial, or domestic purposes
Design, control, and implement mechanical systems and products and serve as the primary point of contact with clients for all mechanical engineering project matters.
Manage the development and implementation of mechanical systems
Complete site visits as necessary to support engineering and construction of the project.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, welding or industrial engineering from an ABET accredited program; OR
Engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program + a Professional Engineering license in Mechanical Engineering
4 - 8 years of experience
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Mechanical and technical skills
Written and verbal communication skills
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience with the design and specification of power generation fluid systems including steam, condensate, fuel gas, cooling water compressed air, and similar systems (esp. natural gas plants)
Proficient in MS Office, with aptitude for learning new software
Strong P&ID and equipment layout review skills
Mechanical system design & drawing interpretation
Heavy industrial or utilities or power plant experience
Familiar with pumps, fans, boilers, welding experience, conveyor systems, etc.
