Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Winter Garden, Florida

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a meaningful role supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing as a sign language interpreter for the upcoming school year. This full-time, on-site contract position runs from August 10, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with standard school hours and a highly collaborative setting. District officials anticipate budget approval on June 8, with a strong chance of interviews taking place shortly after.

Qualifications and Experience Desired:

• Hold the necessary credentials to interpret in a K-12 educational environment
• Possess one of the following: EIPA Level 3 or above, RID certifications (NIC, NAD), or an Educational Certificate (K-12 or OTC)
• Experience providing interpreting services for children or teens preferred
• Strong professionalism, reliability, and commitment to student success
• Comfortable with both interpreting and translating as required in school settings
• Willingness to complete a two-part district onboarding, including document submission for badge issuance

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 sign language interpreting services for an assigned student during school hours
• Facilitate effective communication between students, staff, and peers
• Support students’ academic and social development by interpreting classroom instructions, extracurricular activities, and school events
• Travel to assigned campuses as needed throughout the week (school sites will be confirmed before the start date)
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting
