The Quality Assurance Inspector performs detailed component-level inspections on complex printed circuit board assemblies to ensure they meet IPC standards and internal quality requirements. This role relies heavily on microscope and automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment to identify defects, document findings, and support continuous improvement in electronics manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform component-level inspection on complex printed circuit boards using a microscope and other visual inspection tools.
- Inspect printed circuit board assemblies to IPC-A-610 standards using visual aids, verbal instructions, and written work instructions.
- Identify quality defects in accordance with IPC-A-610 and clearly communicate findings to surface mount technology (SMT) operators and leadership.
- Inspect printed circuit board assemblies using an Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machine and verify detected defects.
- Maintain accurate records of all quality inspections performed, including any rework or corrective actions taken.
- Ensure proper routing and flow of inspected assemblies through the production process.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to assembly personnel to improve product quality and production efficiency.
- Use Microsoft Office applications to document inspection results, communicate issues, and support reporting activities.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards for electronic assemblies.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics manufacturing.
- Ability to work under a microscope for 6–8 hours per day.
- Proficiency in quality assurance and quality inspection practices for printed circuit boards.
- Hands-on experience inspecting PCB assemblies, including soldering quality and PCB board workmanship.
- Ability to operate and interpret results from an Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machine.
- Strong visual inspection skills with attention to detail for identifying defects in PCB quality and soldering.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, email, and internet use.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and related documentation.
- Effective communication skills to clearly convey inspection findings to production staff and leadership.
- Experience working with IPC 610-based quality systems in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Background in soldering and electronics assembly processes.
- Familiarity with quality checks specific to PCB and electronic components.
- Comfort working with visual aids and written instructions to perform standardized inspections.
- Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality and efficiency.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean electronics manufacturing plant focused on printed circuit board assembly. You will work extensively with microscopes, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machines, and computer systems to perform inspections and document results. The position is on a 2nd shift schedule, typically from 3:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., supporting consistent production operations in a controlled, organized facility.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
