Job Description
Aerotek is currently hiring for Outside Machinists to work at the Huntington Ingalls Shipyard in Newport News, VA. Qualified outside machinist will have a minimum of 2 years of experience working on US Navy or commercial vessels. Pay is $35/hr plus $140 per day worked in tax free per diem.
Responsibilities
- Install hull inserts, main engine, propulsion plant machinery, and equipment.
- Conduct valve overhauls, AC & refrigeration repairs, and hydrostatic testing.
- Operate lathes, boring bars, cargo cranes, and portable milling/drilling machines.
- Perform installation and alignment of pumps and motors, including ALRE Pump/motor.
- Execute optical alignment and hydrostatic testing of systems.
- Install hydraulic components, air compressors, and weapons elevators.
- Conduct boiler operations tests and install boiler tube replacements.
- Ensure steam plant cleanliness and system grooming.
- Use precision instruments for measurements and adjustments.
- Execute installation of ballast tanks, sea valves, and deck ordinance.
- Participate in shafting and bearing work, and distilling plant tests.

This is a Contract position based out of Pascagoula, Mississippi.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
