This role focuses on operating CNC lathes to produce heavy-duty steel conveyor components in a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will load and unload parts, perform basic machine adjustments, and complete quality checks to ensure all components meet precise specifications. The position suits someone who is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a production-driven fabrication shop.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC lathe equipment to manufacture heavy-duty steel conveyor components according to job travelers and engineered work instructions.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished parts from CNC lathes in a safe and efficient manner.
- Make basic machine adjustments and perform minor troubleshooting to maintain consistent part quality and machine performance.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform in-process and final quality checks to confirm parts meet specifications and production standards.
- Follow shop safety practices, including proper use of lockout/tagout procedures when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in an industrial fabrication shop environment.
- Meet established production standards while consistently maintaining quality expectations.
- Collaborate with team members and support a positive, team-oriented work culture.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and a strong work ethic to support production schedules.
- Work overtime as needed to meet production demands and customer requirements.
- Experience operating CNC lathes in a production or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineered work instructions.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Familiarity with steel or heavy-duty components and their machining characteristics.
- Ability to perform basic machine troubleshooting and adjustments on CNC lathes.
- Understanding of shop safety practices, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to work from job travelers and follow detailed process documentation.
- Capability to meet production standards while maintaining high quality.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, consistent parts.
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic and reliable attendance.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime based on production needs.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pell City, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.52 - $27.25/hr.
