Job Description

The Route Driver safely operates an F60 truck to complete a rotating delivery route, ensuring accurate product delivery, merchandising, and equipment support for customers in the Rockaway, NJ area. This role combines driving, customer service, inventory management, and basic equipment care to maintain a high level of service and product availability at each account.

Responsibilities

• Drive an F60 truck safely and efficiently on a set route that rotates bi-weekly to customer locations in the Rockaway, NJ area.
• Load and unload the vehicle each day to ensure all inventory required for the daily route is prepared and accurately staged for delivery.
• Utilize a tablet to place orders for new product based on customer needs and inventory levels.
• Monitor product levels at each location and ensure product presentation and merchandising meet company standards.
• Complete all scheduled deliveries and ensure prompt delivery of products and promotional items to assigned accounts.
• Discuss new products with store personnel and inform them of current or upcoming promotional items.
• Provide basic training and guidance on equipment operation to store personnel who are not familiar with machine use.
• Clean machines at customer locations, replenish stock of cups, lids, and straws, and refresh promotional materials as needed.
• Obtain store stamps on invoices at accounts where this is required and ensure all delivery documentation is completed accurately.
• Complete a daily recap on the route envelope, including an inventory of deliveries made, mileage driven, and time in and out for the shift.
• Record any notes, issues, or comments for supervisors on the route envelope to ensure clear communication and follow-up.
• Perform weekly vehicle checks to maintain the truck in safe operating condition and report any maintenance needs promptly.
• Follow all safety procedures, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and company policies while operating the vehicle and working at customer sites.

Essential Skills

• At least 21 years of age to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
• Minimum of two (2) years of customer service and/or route driving experience.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Any kind of driving or delivery experience, including route delivery, is strongly preferred.
• Ability to lift 55 lbs or more on a regular basis, with occasional lifting in excess of 70 lbs.
• Experience with stocking and unloading products from a truck or similar vehicle.
• Comfort using a tablet or similar handheld device to place orders and record route information.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly with store personnel.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and complete all assigned deliveries within scheduled hours.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Route driving experience is a bonus but not strictly required for candidates with strong driving and customer service backgrounds.
• Familiarity with beverage service or vending equipment is a plus.
• Basic mechanical aptitude to discuss and support training on equipment operation.
• Attention to detail for accurate inventory counts, paperwork completion, and route documentation.

Work Environment

This role follows a Monday through Friday schedule starting at 7:00 a.m., providing a consistent daytime work pattern. Work is primarily on the road and at customer locations, involving driving an F60 truck, loading and unloading products, and working around beverage and equipment. The position is physically active, requiring frequent lifting of 55 lbs and occasional lifting above 70 lbs, as well as regular stocking and merchandising tasks. You will use a tablet for ordering and route documentation and complete daily and weekly paperwork related to deliveries, mileage, and vehicle checks. The environment combines time spent driving with time spent in retail or customer-facing settings, where a neat, professional appearance and adherence to safety guidelines are expected.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
