Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a vital role supporting students with significant needs in a welcoming educational setting near Great Barrington, MA. This full-time, onsite opportunity focuses on serving Substantially Separate Classrooms across K-1st and 3rd-5th grade, working with children facing a range of cognitive and physical challenges. Some students are on the autism spectrum, and a number are non-verbal; others require toileting assistance. Selected educators will collaborate closely with other professionals, including Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), to ensure every child receives individualized support and intervention.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility for certification)
- Direct experience with students who have significant disabilities, both cognitive and physical
- Comfortable providing toileting and personal care assistance as needed
- Background in specially designed instruction
- Experience utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies strongly preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies for non-verbal students and those on the autism spectrum
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in alignment with IEP goals and individual student needs
- Implement behavior intervention plans collaboratively with RBT support
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
- Monitor and document student progress and communicate effectively with families and support staff
- Provide hands-on support with activities of daily living, including toileting and mobility assistance
- Maintain compliance with all district and special education regulations
