Job Description
(Commercial Metal Stud Drywall Contractor | $50M Revenue)
Bid Preparation Quantity Takeoffs
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for metal studs, drywall, insulation, acoustical ceilings, and
related scopes using digital takeoff software.
• Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to fully understand scope, sequencing, and
project constraints.
• Identify and document any missing or unclear scope items and submit timely RFIs as needed.
Pricing Proposal Development
• Develop competitive cost estimates using historical data, supplier pricing, labor production
rates, and market knowledge.
• Obtain vendor and subcontractor quotes to support pricing accuracy and value.
• Assemble and submit professional bid proposals, including clarifications, inclusions/exclusions,
and alternates.
Customer Networking Relationship Management
• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, and construction
managers to stay top-of-mind for upcoming bid opportunities.
• Attend networking events, pre-bid meetings, industry functions, and client meetings to
strengthen relationships and gain project insights.
• Follow up post-bid to gather feedback, build rapport, and improve positioning for future work.
• Serve as a trusted resource to clients by providing preliminary budgets, value engineering
ideas, and scope recommendations during preconstruction.
Bid Strategy Management
• Maintain and prioritize the bid calendar based on strategic opportunities and relationships.
• Collaborate with leadership to evaluate go/no-go decisions and align estimating efforts with
company revenue goals.
• Track success rates, bid trends, and market pricing intelligence to inform estimating strategy.
Handoff Support
• Participate in project handoff meetings with project managers and field supervisors to ensure
accurate transfer of scope, pricing, and assumptions.
• Provide labor budgets, material lists, and takeoff documentation to operations teams for
planning and execution.
Process Documentation
• Maintain a well-organized estimate database and archive of past bids, quotes, and pricing
data.
• Continuously improve estimating templates, takeoff methods, and systems to increase
accuracy and efficiency.
