This role involves setting up and operating precision Makino grinding equipment to perform inner and outer diameter grinding on metal parts for aerospace applications. You will complete setups and changeovers, interpret blueprints and schematics, and ensure parts meet tight dimensional tolerances while maintaining a clean and efficient machining process.
Responsibilities
- Set up and perform changeovers on Makino and other precision grinders according to job requirements.
- Operate precision grinding equipment to perform outer diameter and inner diameter grinding of metal parts.
- Grind and smooth metal components to remove defects, sharp edges, and excess material while maintaining specified dimensions.
- Hold and verify high tolerances, including approximately +/- .001, to meet aerospace industry standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to determine machining and grinding requirements.
- Use precision measuring tools, such as micrometers and other inspection instruments, to verify part dimensions and quality.
- Operate manual mills and lathes or CNC mills and lathes as needed to support machining and grinding operations.
- Monitor machine performance, make necessary adjustments, and perform basic troubleshooting during production.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a climate-controlled facility.
- Follow established procedures and quality standards to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
- Experience running a CNC machine or similar equipment that includes setups and changeovers.
- Proficiency in operating precision grinders for inner diameter and outer diameter grinding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Skill in using micrometers and other precision measuring instruments for inspection.
- Experience with machine operation in a machining or grinding environment.
- Capability to hold and work to tight tolerances, including approximately +/- .001.
- Familiarity with surface grinding processes.
- Basic understanding of CNC machining principles and practices.
- Experience operating manual mills and lathes.
- Experience operating CNC mills and lathes.
- Background in machining for aerospace or other high-precision industries.
- Comfort working with grinding, milling, turning, and related machining processes.

Work Environment
The facility is clean, organized, and climate controlled, providing a comfortable and stable environment for precision grinding and machining. You will work with Makino grinders, manual mills and lathes, CNC mills and lathes, and standard precision measuring tools such as micrometers. A weekend shift is available where you work 36 hours and receive pay for 48 hours, offering an alternative schedule to standard weekday shifts.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
