General Laborer

Title: Cable Laborer

Location: Norfolk, VA

Pay: $17-25/hr

Schedule: 1st or 2nd Shift (6am-6pm) (6pm-6am)

Contract: 2-3 months - 12 days on 20 days off

START DATE JULY 4TH !!!

JOB DESCRIPTION

1–3 years of experience in a physically demanding job in sectors like construction, utilities, shipyard, or manufacturing. Experience with heavy materials handling or large cable/rope/hose handling is ideal. Capable of strenuous labor over 12-hour shifts. Can repeatedly lift, carry, and maneuver items of ~50 lbs safely (e.g., coiled cable, connector pieces). OSHA 10-Hour safety training

Key Responsibilities:

· Walk and guide cable around the barge’s cable pan as it is being fed from the ship, taking turns with other crew members to maintain a consistent pace and tension.

• Position cable loops in the pan carefully and hold each coil in place until the next loop is laid, ensuring neat layering and no slip-ups.

• Handle connectors and specialty hardware: assist in lifting heavy cable connectors (~35 lbs) onto rolling carts and moving them safely from the pier to the pan, placing them in designated orientations without straining the
