Position Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Position Summary:
The Travel RN – Labor & Delivery provides specialized nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout the labor, delivery, recovery, and immediate postpartum periods. The nurse collaborates with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care for patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, monitor, and document maternal and fetal conditions during labor and delivery.
- Interpret fetal heart monitoring strips and identify signs of fetal distress.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and pain management therapies as prescribed.
- Assist physicians and midwives with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and obstetrical emergencies.
- Provide care during labor induction, augmentation, and high-risk pregnancies.
- Monitor and care for patients during the recovery and immediate postpartum period.
- Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.
- Respond rapidly to obstetric emergencies, including hemorrhage, fetal distress, and emergency cesarean deliveries.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
