Position Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)
 

Position Summary:
The Travel RN – Operating Room provides direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The OR nurse collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative care. The nurse serves as a patient advocate while maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to surgical safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients preoperatively and review medical history, laboratory results, and surgical plans.
  • Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
  • Function as a circulating nurse during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection prevention standards.
  • Monitor patients throughout surgical procedures and respond to changes in condition.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical team members to promote optimal patient outcomes.
  • Document all aspects of perioperative care accurately and timely.
  • Verify patient identity, procedure, and surgical site according to established protocols.
  • Assist with specimen collection, handling, and documentation.
  • Participate in emergency procedures and surgical interventions as needed.
  • Provide post-operative handoff communication to PACU and receiving care teams.
