Job Description – RN - Medical Surgical (Med Surg)
Position Summary:
The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions and those recovering from surgical procedures. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering treatments, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Monitor and document patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
- Manage patients with acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation.
- Recognize changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
