Project Manager 2 / Construction Superintendent - Nuclear Facilities

Location: Los Alamos, NM | 100% Onsite (TA-55 Plant)

Compensation: $58-$64/hr

Schedule: 4/10s - Monday through Thursday | Days, nights, weekends, and graveyard shifts required

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required

Clearance: Active DOE Q Clearance required at time of application

WHY THIS ROLE

Join a mission-critical team at Los Alamos National Laboratory responsible for overseeing construction projects essential to national security. As a Project Manager 2 / Superintendent 3, you will lead construction efforts ensuring safety, budget compliance, and schedule performance in a high-security nuclear facility. Your work will directly support scientific advancement and federal mission delivery in one of the nation's most unique operational environments.

This hybrid PM/Superintendent role is designed for a leader who can operate equally well in a project management office and on the construction floor. You'll manage delivery of nuclear facility construction projects while providing direct construction oversight - a rare combination that makes you a high-value contributor to LANL's most complex renovation programs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead and manage projects up to $500K and oversee Superintendent 2s
  • Serve as Control Account Manager (CAM), managing budget, schedule, and scope performance using EVMS
  • Present project performance plans, status updates, and project trends to federal sponsors
  • Conduct investigations into abnormal events/incidents and assist in developing corrective action plans
  • Perform variance analysis and develop corrective action plans for cost/schedule variances
  • Lead constructability reviews and interface with program, project, and line management stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, and configuration management requirements
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Coordinate materials, track job activities, and manage vendor and supplier relationships using computerized work management systems

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

  • S. Citizenship and active DOE Q Clearance at time of application
  • At least 10 years of experience in engineering, procurement, or construction
  • 5+ years managing construction projects with scope, schedule, and budget oversight
  • Demonstrated Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) experience
  • Experience in construction within a nuclear environment
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics
  • Willingness to work days, nights, weekends, and graveyard shifts as required
  • Ability to meet physical demands: lifting, standing, stair climbing

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Recognized degree in engineering, scientific discipline, or project management preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS - Read Before Applying

  • Active DOE Q Clearance at time of application - ability to obtain is NOT sufficient
  • Minimum 10 years construction/engineering/procurement experience
  • 5+ years direct construction project management with EVMS
  • Nuclear facility construction experience
  • Willingness to work graveyard shifts - this is a hard requirement, not optional
