Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Full-Time

Weekdays 7am-7pm

Work Wellbeing Score on Indeed: 83

This is more than a nursing job. It is a chance to be the steady presence someone remembers when they were at their most vulnerable.

At KVC, our nurses do not just provide care. They help people rebuild stability, dignity, and hope during some of the most critical moments of their lives. If you are looking for work that challenges you, matters deeply, and allows you to see the real impact of your skills every day, this role is designed for you.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least 20 years of age

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Kansas

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance

  • 3–6 months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and training

Preferred:

  • Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric settings

Position Summary

As an LPN in our inpatient psychiatric facility, you will deliver hands-on, compassionate nursing care to individuals navigating acute mental health challenges. You will play a vital role in maintaining patient safety, administering medications, and ensuring accurate clinical documentation.

This role requires clinical precision, emotional intelligence, and the ability to respond effectively in both routine and urgent situations. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized treatment plans and create a structured, therapeutic environment where patients can stabilize and begin recovery.

What You Will Do
  • Administer medications using barcode scanning technology and monitor medication records

  • Observe, assess, and document patient conditions in the electronic health record (EHR)

  • Respond to minor injuries and urgent medical needs within scope of practice

  • Monitor vital signs, collect lab specimens, and coordinate medical appointments

  • Communicate effectively with providers, pharmacies, and care teams

  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and patient transitions

  • Support patients with daily living activities including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility

  • Lead or assist in psychoeducational and hygiene groups

  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and care coordination

  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and support crisis intervention efforts

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and all regulatory standards

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation before the end of each shift

What Sets This Role Apart
  • You will work in an environment where collaboration is essential, not optional

  • Your observations and clinical judgment directly influence patient outcomes

  • You will be part of a culture that values urgency, innovation, and continuous improvement

  • You will help create a safe, inclusive space for individuals from all backgrounds

At KVC, our values guide everything we do: compassion, authenticity, family connection, collaboration, innovation, and respect for diverse perspectives. We expect our team members to lead by example, remain solutions-focused, and build on the strengths of those we serve.

Physical Requirements

This role requires active, hands-on work. You will regularly stand, walk, and engage with patients throughout your shift. Responsibilities include lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally, as well as bending, reaching, and assisting with patient mobility. Strong situational awareness and physical readiness are essential in a psychiatric care setting.

If you are looking for a role where your skills are respected, your work has visible impact, and your wellbeing is supported, this is where you belong.
