About this job
Job Description
York, Pennsylvania
A day in your craftWhen your shift begins, you’re on the floor with prints in hand—blueprints and CAD models for precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and complex progressive dies that feed high-volume stamping. You’ll move from the toolroom to the press line, setting up equipment, inspecting parts to the ten-thousandth (.0001"), and fine‑tuning dies so production runs stay on target. If a die hiccups during a run, you’re the first call—diagnosing, repairing, and getting parts moving again with minimal downtime.
You’ll collaborate closely with engineering and production to elevate tooling performance and throughput. Everything you build is headed into applications that matter—automotive, medical, and electrical connector programs powering hybrid vehicles, surgical instruments, blood collection devices, and even EpiPens. Our client is a leading provider of precision metal stampings in these markets and is adding skilled makers to their team on 1st and 2nd shift.
What you’ll do- Design, build, and maintain precision tools, fixtures, and progressive stamping dies from blueprints/CAD, qualifying to First Article standards and specified tolerances.
- Set up and operate presses and machine tools—manual mills, lathes, and grinders—to fabricate and rework components.
- Troubleshoot in-process die issues, perform corrective maintenance, and restore production quickly.
- Verify work using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments—holding tolerances down to .0001".
- Partner with engineering and production to drive continuous improvements in tool life, part quality, and efficiency.
- 5–10+ years in tool and die making or completion of a state‑approved apprenticeship.
- Fluency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measurement.
- Strong grounding in machine shop practices, machining operations, mechanical principles, and material behavior.
- High School Diploma or GED; a vocational certificate in tool and die making is preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 am–2:30 pm
- 2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 pm–1:30 am
- Off‑shift employees receive a 10% shift differential in addition to base pay.
Competitive wages based on skills and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package:

- 401(k) with employer match
- Paid Vacation and Paid Holidays
