Traveling Medical Assistant

The Traveling Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care across various primary care settings with a weekly travel schedule. Reporting to the Office Manager, this position involves hands-on clinical support including vital signs, phlebotomy, diagnostic procedures, and assisting physicians. The role requires adaptability and excellent organizational skills to manage medical documentation, patient education, and coordination of laboratory and hospital admissions while ensuring all instruments and environments are sterile and compliant. Mileage reimbursement is provided as the primary mode of transportation support.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care including taking vitals, physical screenings, and assisting physician exams
• Perform phlebotomy and administer immunizations and injections
• Conduct diagnostic procedures such as x-rays, ECGs, and EKGs
• Document patient encounters and manage prescriptions, refills, and medical records
• Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments to maintain a safe environment
• Coordinate hospital admissions and laboratory procedures effectively
• Educate patients on healthcare plans and procedures
• Utilize electronic systems such as eClinicalWorks and Microsoft Office for patient and office management
• Handle telephone and online patient encounters professionally

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months experience as a medical assistant
• High School Diploma or GED
• CMA or RMA certification
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and vital signs measurement
• Ability to perform comprehensive medical histories and physical exams
