General Laborer

The Heritage Company specializes in restoration of Slate and Copper roofing on historic homes in northern New England. Join our team of craftsmen to learn this enduring trade. Our team has over 250 years of combined experience in slate and copper roofing and sheet metal fabrication. In this role, you will work on diverse projects, from restoring churches, to newly constructed homes. We use old school
techniques and tools to replicate and fabricate architectural details that bring the projects to life.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cleanup of construction sites, ensuring a safe and organized environment.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to perform tasks such as slate and copper roofing, and sheet metal fabrication.
• Read technical drawings to accurately execute project specifications.
• Perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks related to material handling and scaffold erection.
• Support skilled tradespeople with tasks such as light carpentry, and material handling.
• Follow safety protocols diligently, while working with scaffolding, roofing materials, scaffolding systems, or working at heights.

Requirements

• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods.
• Strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn new skills such as sheet metal layout, fabrication, and slate laying as needed.
• Valid driver’s license required; OSHA safety certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
