Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a rewarding contract role supporting a young PreK student as a Sign Language Interpreter for the 26/27 school year. You'll work with a 4-year-old student who is medically fragile and dependent on a vent and trach, providing critical access to learning and connection through your skilled interpreting. The assignment is structured for a manageable schedule—four days a week, four hours each day—beginning the second week of August.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting expertise, preferably in an educational setting
• Previous experience supporting individuals who are medically fragile is highly valued
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including educators and healthcare professionals
• Familiarity with assistive communication strategies and adapting interpretation for young children
• Patience, empathy, and exceptional communication skills
• Certification or relevant credentials as required by local and state guidelines

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation for a PreK student during classroom instruction and activities
• Adapt communication methods to support comprehension and engagement
• Liaise with teaching staff, support personnel, and family members to ensure consistency in communication and care
• Remain attentive to the student's medical needs alongside designated healthcare providers
