Aerotek is hiring a Laborer in Sussex County, DE for a highly respected manufacturing company. This position is a contract-to-hire offering weekly pay!
Job Description
The Laborer supports manufacturing and fabrication operations by performing manual metal finishing, assisting machine operators, and handling materials throughout the facility. This highly physical role involves grinding and smoothing welds, inspecting finished parts, and maintaining a clean and safe work area in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual grinding, sanding, and finishing of welded metal components to meet established quality standards.
- Inspect welds and finished parts for defects and ensure a smooth, consistent finish on all components.
- Assist machine operators with equipment setup, operation, and basic maintenance tasks as needed.
- Move raw materials, work-in-progress items, and finished products safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
- Load and unload materials from machines, workstations, and storage areas using proper handling techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following housekeeping and 5S practices.
- Follow all safety procedures, production guidelines, and company policies at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on production schedules and business needs.
Essential Skills
- Experience performing general labor or production work in a manufacturing, construction, or similar environment (preferred).
- Ability to perform repetitive grinding and finishing motions for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently squat, bend, kneel, and work in low or awkward positions.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials on a repetitive basis, often in the 25–50+ lb range.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to use hand tools such as grinders, sanders, and other finishing equipment, or willingness to learn with training provided.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and consistent attendance.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and producing quality work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or general labor roles.
- Familiarity with metal finishing processes and basic machine operation.
- Willingness to cross-train in additional production tasks and equipment.
- Positive attitude and willingness to take on a variety of tasks as needed.
