Position Type: Full-Time
Start Date: Start of 26-27 School Year
We are seeking dedicated, student-centered Special Education Teachers to join our team in the Newark, NJ area. This role serves students in grades 3 through 8 within self-contained special education classrooms, providing individualized instruction and support to help students achieve academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success.
The ideal candidate is passionate about working with diverse learners, skilled in developing individualized educational programs, and committed to creating an inclusive, structured, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized instruction to students in grades 3–8 within self-contained classroom settings.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Differentiate instruction based on student learning needs, abilities, and goals.
- Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain accurate student progress data.
- Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and families to support student success.
- Utilize positive behavior intervention strategies and classroom management techniques.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Maintain compliance with all special education documentation and reporting requirements.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and respectful classroom culture.
Qualifications
Minimum State Requirements (New Jersey):
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet New Jersey state certification requirements for Special Education Teachers, including:
- Hold a valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) Endorsement or be eligible for certification.
- Hold or be eligible for a valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate (CE, CEAS, Provisional, or Standard) in an appropriate teaching area.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (Master's degree preferred).
- Ability to pass all required state and district background checks.
Only candidates who currently possess or are eligible to obtain New Jersey Special Education certification will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching students in self-contained special education settings.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
- Experience supporting students with behavioral, emotional, learning, and developmental disabilities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with evidence-based instructional and behavioral interventions.
