EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated part time Substance Abuse Counselor to join the New Path Treatment Center.

Salary:  $30/hour

Schedule: 5 hours per week; Tuesday 5:30-8, Wednesday 5:30-8

Location: 175 Fulton Ave. in Hempstead, NY

What drives the core purpose of this job: 

The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing direct treatment services to clients of the New Path Treatment Center. 

What are the key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct individual, family and group counseling sessions.
2. Provide consultation and treatment for family and related other individuals of clients. 
3. Assess the condition of the client's progress and status during treatment sessions.
4. Record progress notes of each treatment session, detailing dates, types of counseling provided and nature of counseling, length of session and client progress.
5. Review client treatment plans as a guide to treatment.
6. Plan with Supervision and any criminal justice referral source, the long-range goals and any ancillary referral sources for clients.
7. Provide emergency coverage and crisis intervention.
8. Conduct random drug tests on all clients.

What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:

1. Minimum of High School Diploma or education equivalent and CASAC or Provisional QHP required.
2. Possessing and maintaining a current and valid professional license/certification relevant to the position is a condition of employment and required for the position. 
3. Minimum of two years of treatment experience in addiction services area required.
4. Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
5. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.
