Registered Respiratory Therapist

- Shifts: 12hr, 07:00-19:00 Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Job Summary:

- diagnose, treat, and manage patients with cardiopulmonary (heart and lung) disorders. function as airway and breathing experts in various medical settings, caring for everyone from premature infants to the elderly

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Assessment: Interviewing patients, checking vital signs, and evaluating cardiopulmonary systems.
  
• Diagnostic Testing: Conducting tests such as spirometry and pulmonary function tests (PFTs) to measure lung capacity, as well as analyzing arterial blood gases to assess oxygen and carbon dioxide levels
• Airway Management: Performing emergency life-saving interventions like airway intubation, external cardiac massage, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
• Equipment Management: Setting up, maintaining, and monitoring life-support systems such as mechanical ventilators and aerosol generators
• Treatment Administration: Providing oxygen therapy, humidity-aerosol therapy, administering breathing medications directly to the lungs, and performing chest physiotherapy to clear airways
• Patient Education: Teaching patients and their families how to manage chronic conditions (like asthma or COPD) at home, including instruction on using inhalers, nebulizers, and home oxygen equipment
• Care Collaboration: Working alongside physicians, nurses, and surgeons to develop and modify ongoing patient treatment plans
  

Requirements:

• ARRT - IA/Iowa Respiratory license *Compact License Allowed**Must have taxable address outside of 50 miles from facility**
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, NBRC and PALS required
• Minimum 2-year(s) exp.
• Experience using Siemens fixed equipment Carestream portables GE OEC C-arms
• NICU, Step-down, telemetry, and critical care experience preferred. Level I trauma
  

Work Environment & Demands:

• Hospital settings (Med-Surg units, post-op recovery, step-down).
  
• Physical demands include standing, lifting patients/equipment, and stress management.
