Job Description
Addison Group is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant for a growing organization in Anaheim, CA. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting who is looking to build upon a strong foundation in accounts payable while gaining exposure to general ledger accounting, journal entries, prepaid expense accounting, and month-end close activities.
The Junior Accountant will be responsible for processing high-volume accounts payable transactions, maintaining accurate vendor records, reconciling accounts, and supporting various accounting functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong Excel skills, an understanding of accounting principles, and a desire to grow within a corporate accounting environment.
Responsibilities
- Process and code vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform three-way matching of purchase orders, receiving documentation, and invoices.
- Review and reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and resolve payment issues.
- Maintain vendor records and assist with vendor setup and documentation.
- Process employee expense reports and corporate credit card transactions.
- Prepare weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire payment support documentation.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliations.
- Maintain prepaid expense schedules and record monthly amortization entries.
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to analyze financial data and prepare reports.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper approvals, coding, and documentation.
- Maintain organized accounting records and documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with audits, special projects, and other accounting-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- 1+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience preferred.
- Understanding of accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, reconciliations, and three-way matching.
- Understanding of prepaid expenses, accruals, and basic general ledger accounting.
- Experience preparing journal entries or assisting with month-end close activities is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite or similar accounting software.
- Experience in a high-volume accounts payable environment.
- Exposure to general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
- Experience working within a corporate accounting department.
