Job Title: General Foreman – Paint Department
Pay Range: $34.25 - $37.00 based on experience and interview
Location: Mobile, AL
Job Description:
Provides leadership and coordination for multiple Foremen and craft teams across assigned production areas. Ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules, quality standards, and company objectives. Serves as the primary link between Foremen and the Craft Superintendent to support execution of production plans and resolve operational challenges.
Experience required:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in production, ship repair, construction, or related operations
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in marine and/or industrial blasting and painting is required.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role such as Foreman or equivalent
Strong understanding of multi-discipline operations and coordination across work groups
Requirements:
- Directs and coordinates the activities of multiple Foremen and their crews to meet production schedules and project milestones
- Works closely with the Craft Superintendent to plan, prioritize, and execute workload across multiple jobs or work fronts
- Ensures consistent application of safety standards and actively promotes a strong safety culture across all assigned crews
- Monitors job progress, manpower allocation, and resource utilization; adjusts as needed to maintain efficiency and productivity
- Communicates daily with Production Leadership regarding job status, priorities, and issues impacting performance
- Provides guidance, coaching, and support to Foremen to strengthen leadership, communication, and accountability within their teams
- Identifies manpower needs, skill gaps, and training opportunities across assigned areas
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available and properly utilized to support production requirements
- Assists in resolving operational issues, delays, or conflicts that may impact project timelines or crew performance
- Reviews and ensures completion of required documentation, reports, inspections, and compliance-related records
- Supports planning and execution of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) processes across multiple crews
- Participates in daily production, coordination, and safety meetings
- Holds Foremen accountable for crew performance, safety compliance, productivity, and adherence to company standards
- Maintains active field presence to monitor work execution, reinforce expectations, and provide real-time direction to Foremen and crews
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Demonstrates visible leadership and accountability for safety performance across all assigned work areas
- Ensures Foremen are actively identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions
- Reinforces compliance with all company policies, procedures, and HSEQ requirements
- Investigates incidents and near-misses in coordination with leadership and supports corrective actions
- Promotes a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Assists in workforce planning, including scheduling, manpower forecasting, and coordination with leadership on staffing needs
Skills:
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage multiple teams simultaneously
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, job procedures, and production schedules
- Working knowledge of tools, equipment, and production processes across multiple crafts
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work across multiple projects
- Working knowledge across multiple crafts with the ability to understand scope, sequencing, and production requirements
- Basic estimating knowledge to support job planning, manpower allocation, and production execution
- Proficiency in computer systems and standard software used for reporting and documentation
- Ability to prepare and complete work-related documentation, including Condition Found Reports (CFRs), daily reports, and other required records
