Mechanical Field Engineer
Location: Georgetown, KY

About the Opportunity
Reliance One is seeking an experienced Mechanical Field Engineer to support industrial construction projects in Georgetown, Kentucky. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering professional with a strong background in mechanical systems, construction management, and commissioning activities within manufacturing or industrial environments.
The successful candidate will oversee mechanical installations, coordinate contractors, support project management activities, and ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable codes and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate mechanical building system startups and commissioning activities.
- Review product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering drawings, specifications, and contractor RFIs.
- Coordinate equipment factory testing, delivery, installation, commissioning, and turnover to end users.
- Conduct continuous field inspections to monitor project progress and quality.
- Ensure mechanical systems comply with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable building codes.
- Support construction administration activities including scheduling, coordination meetings, utility outages, and quality reviews.
- Oversee mechanical contractors to ensure compliance with project schedules and delivery requirements.
- Prepare field engineering status reports for Project Managers.
- Coordinate weekend and plant shutdown activities with contractors and facility teams.
- Manage daily construction support activities and respond to RFIs.
- Serve as the liaison between field construction teams and project management.
- Coordinate equipment deliveries, installation schedules, and field change orders.
- Monitor installation activities to verify compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Assist with estimates, scheduling, materials management, and purchase orders as needed.
- Supervise construction activities in the field.
- Provide recommendations for improvements to technical specifications and engineering standards.
- Communicate technical information effectively through written reports and verbal discussions.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience supporting industrial or commercial construction projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design.
- Automotive manufacturing or industrial manufacturing experience.
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical building systems and commissioning practices.
- OSHA 10 Certification.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings and applying them in the field.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Electrical Safe Work Practices, Control of Hazardous Energy, and Arc Flash Safety.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes and industry standards including:
- IBC
- NEC
- NESC
- NFPA
- ASME
- AMCA
- ARI
- AWS
- ASHRAE
- FM
- Ability to manage daily, weekly, and monthly construction schedules.
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Project
- AutoCAD
- Bluebeam
- Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, climb stairs, and work throughout large industrial facilities for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP Certification
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud / Build
