CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Chemical Engineer II.

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Hemlock, MI
Pay Rate: Based on experience
Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline required
Our client is seeking a Chemical Engineer II to support process safety, chemical systems, equipment readiness, and commissioning activities at a solar wafers manufacturing facility in Hemlock, MI. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, HAZOP/PHA participation, and plant startup support.
The ideal candidate will bring strong process safety fundamentals, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with plant operations, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities• Lead or support HAZOPs and PHAs to identify hazards and implement safeguards
• Support safe design, optimization, startup, and operation of chemical manufacturing systems
• Assist with commissioning, operational readiness, and startup activities
• Troubleshoot chemical and manufacturing process issues using structured problem-solving methods
• Update technical documentation including procedures, P&IDs, and control narratives
• Collaborate with plant personnel, vendors, and engineering teams to resolve operational challenges
• Analyze process data and apply statistical methods to improve process performance and reliability
• Communicate technical findings, project updates, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders
• 3+ years of chemical manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial experience
• Strong understanding of chemical process systems and engineering fundamentals
• Experience with process safety principles, OSHA PSM, and EHS requirements
• Familiarity with HAZOPs, PHAs, and chemical delivery systems
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
• Ability to work onsite in a plant/startup manufacturing environment
• Experience with Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, ChemCAD, COMSOL, ProSim Plus, or MATLAB
• Experience with DOE and statistical tools such as JMP, Minitab, Origin, or SigmaZone
• Previous startup, commissioning, or manufacturing scale-up experience
• Willingness to travel domestically to support additional manufacturing sites as needed
