Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, bilingual (Spanish-English) Legal Assistant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced professional environment and is interested in gaining experience across multiple areas of immigration law, including:
- Federal litigation
- Humanitarian immigration
- Family-based immigration
- Employment-based immigration
- Investment-based immigration
This position is fully on-site at our office location in Montrose and is not eligible for remote work.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders through high-volume phone and email communications.
- Meet with clients to gather information, obtain statements and affidavits, and facilitate execution of legal documents and forms.
- Maintain organized client files and track case progress to ensure timely follow-up.
- Manage attorney calendars, appointments, deadlines, and case-related scheduling.
- Assist attorneys in preparing immigration filings and supporting documentation.
- Provide Spanish-language interpretation and document translation as needed.
- Process, organize, and maintain legal correspondence and incoming mail.
- Draft routine legal correspondence and documents under attorney supervision.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties to support daily office operations.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and excellent client service at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Native or professional-level fluency in both Spanish and English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong calendar management and deadline-tracking abilities.
- Professional phone, email, and client-service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a law firm, legal office, or professional services environment.
- Experience in immigration law or related legal fields.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat.
- Additional language proficiency.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field.
