What the role is all about
The Night Auditor is responsible for carrying the guest experience through the overnight hours while also completing the accounting, reporting, and front office work that closes one day and sets up the next. This role balances warm hospitality with accuracy, safety awareness, and strong attention to detail.
The Night Auditor checks guests in and out, responds to guest needs, answers calls, takes reservations, walks the property, and completes the nightly audit process in the property management system. They generate and review accounting reports, verify transactions, balance shift banks, and make sure the team has clear and accurate information for the next day.
This is a role for someone who is calm, steady, detail-oriented, and comfortable being the primary on-site point of contact during overnight hours.

What You’ll Do
- Deliver a warm, confident, and professional guest experience during overnight hours.
- Check hotel guests in and out accurately andefficiently, andassistguests throughout their stay.
- Answer calls in a courteous and efficient manner,takereservations, and provide helpful information about the hotel and local area.
- Complete all nightly shift checklist items and follow all operating standards, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, and instructions.
- Generate accounting reports within the property management system and complete the night audit in compliance with property standards.
- Review, correct, print, and distribute nightly audit packets to theappropriate recipients.
- Open, secure, and balance shift banks, including verification of cash, credit card, androomcharge transactions.
- Respond promptly to guest comments, concerns, and requests; inform a manager when follow-up or corrective action is needed.
- Walk the property on a nightly basis, log property discrepancies, andimmediatelyaddress or escalate security and safety issues.
- Maintain a positive relationship with guests andemployees, andpromote guest name recognition whenever possible.
- Keep work areas clean, safe, organized, and ready for the next shift.
- Maintain knowledge of hotel services, amenities, systems, and guest resources.
Requirements
- Six (6) months of related experience in hospitality, guest service, or a service-industry environment.
- Accounting, cash handling, night audit, or front desk experience preferred.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)required; college coursework or degree preferred.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace.
- Ability towriteroutine reports and correspondence and communicate effectively with co-workers and managers.
- Ability to apply basic math concepts, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Comfort working with hotel and business systems, including property management systems and point-of-sale systems; experience withStayntouch, Alice, Shopify, Aloha, Toast, orBevSpotis a plus.
- High levelof professionalism, discretion, reliability, and situational awareness.
- Comfortable working overnight shifts, independently, and in a guest-facing environment.

- This is an on-site role that works across hotel-based environments, including the front desk, lobby, guest-facing areas, office spaces, and property grounds.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The person in this role may have to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis.
- The person in this role may have to remain stationary for extended periods,standand/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach, and stretch during the shift.
