Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Mechanic - III to join our manufacturing facility team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of industrial equipment and systems to ensure optimal operational efficiency.

Shifts. First and second.

To support the total production effort from incoming raw materials to outgoing finished product by maintaining the integrity of all packing and process equipment.

  • Perform complete packaging line and or process repairs and changeovers and be responsible for their start up after the repair and changeover.
  • Grease and oil all equipment according to manufacture recommendations.
  • Support the implementation of a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
  • To assist production on a need be basis to enhance and improve product output.
  • To respond to production line and or process repair requirements as soon as possible.
  • Provide mechanical support for projects or building changes.
  • Recognize safety as the number one priority.
  • Identify and resolve safety hazards prior to shift start and throughout the shift.
  • Participate in safety programs.
  • Follow all procedures as outlined in the Company’s Safety Rules and Policy.
  • Follow all enzyme program protocol.
  • Follow Confined Space rules and regulations.
  • Maintain an orderly work ethic whereas when a job is completed all remaining materials are removed from the area and stored accordingly.
  • When any greasing or oiling is performed all residual grease and oil is removed from around the area.
  • Keep maintenance shop neat and orderly.
  • Return all shop tools to their designated cabinet.
  • Maintain an orderly inventory of necessary repair parts and materials.
  • The worker is required to wear all safety protective equipment required by The Corporation and/or the State of Michigan - Department of Labor.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Skill/Knowledge Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a packaging industry
  • A minimum of seven years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements

  • Stooping: Bending downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Requires full use of lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on one knee or both knees.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arms(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Requires substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 dB loss at 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined.
  • Visual: Visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field of vision.
  • Visual Acuity Requirements Including Color, Depth Perception, & Field of Vision Machine Operator (including inspection) – This is a minimum standard for use with those whose work deals largely with visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines (including inspection), using measurement devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. (2)

Working Conditions
The worker is subject to:

  • Inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
  • Noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • Hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, and exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that may affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  • Oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.

The worker is required to:

  • Wear all safety protective equipment required by Corp. and/ or by the State of Michigan-Department of Labor.
