About this job
Job Description
Night shift Maintenance Technician needed at a fully automated industrial food manufacturing facility in Frederick, MD. $35 to $45/hr depending on experience and skill set, 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 rotation, and a structured path to grow your pay as you grow your skills.
Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of an established and rapidly expanding industrial food manufacturing operation in Frederick, MD. The facility runs fully automated production lines 24/7 and is actively doubling its production capacity, which means the maintenance team is growing with it. These are growth hires built to support a bigger, more complex operation.
Who thrives here
- You are comfortable being the most senior person on the floor at 2:00 AM and making the call yourself
- You troubleshoot both mechanically and electrically, not one or the other
- You have worked on actual production systems, not just components; you can name the line, not just the motor
- You want a structured advancement path where your pay reflects your skills, not just your tenure
- You appreciate a 2-2-3 schedule because it gives you more full days off per month than a standard 5-day week
- You want to be part of a facility that is building something, not just maintaining the status quo
This role is not for candidates with a building maintenance, facilities, or property management background. This is hands-on automated production line maintenance in a high-volume, fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
THE OPPORTUNITY
You will join the night shift maintenance crew (6:00 PM to 6:30 AM, 2-2-3 rotation) supporting fully automated production lines built with European equipment. The facility is currently expanding from four to eight production lines, creating real upward mobility for technicians who prove their skills. Night shift technicians work with a high degree of independence; you are solving problems, not waiting for direction.
The equipment is European-made, which means it runs differently from what most American facilities use. There is a learning curve, and the facility trains for it. The right candidate brings the fundamentals and the problem-solving mindset; the specific equipment knowledge develops on the job.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical faults on fully automated production lines during night shift
- Diagnose and resolve 480V three-phase electrical issues including motors, motor controls, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Work with programmable logic controller (PLC)-controlled equipment to identify faults and restore production (Allen-Bradley and Siemens systems)
- Execute daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance (PM) schedules on conveyors, motors, pumps, bearings, and gearboxes
- Respond as the first line of defense on any line-down situation and work with urgency to restore production
- Document every completed work item in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); approximately 2 minutes per entry, 9 hours of documented work per day expected
REQUIRED
- 4+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; food, packaging, pharma, or high-speed production strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience maintaining complete production systems; you can name the line or machine, not just the part you replaced
- Real electrical depth: 480V three-phase systems, motor controls, and PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley or Siemens preferred)
- Mechanical fluency: bearings, gearboxes, pneumatics, conveyors, and drive components
- Availability for the night shift 2-2-3 rotation (6:00 PM to 6:30 AM)
- Ability to work independently and make judgment calls without supervision overnight
BONUS POINTS
- Food or beverage manufacturing background
- Experience with European-built production equipment
- VFD troubleshooting experience
- CMMS experience (any platform)
- Multi-line experience in a high-volume environment
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Hourly Rate: $35 to $45/hr depending on experience and skill set
Night Shift Differential: $2/hr on top of base rate
Advancement: Structured pay tier program; your rate increases as your skills and responsibilities grow
Schedule: 2-2-3 rotation, 12-hour night shifts (6:00 PM to 6:30 AM); more full days off per month than a standard 5-day week
Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage effective approximately 60 days from start date; 401(k)
Growth: Active facility expansion means real paths into senior technician, reliability engineer, and maintenance supervisor roles as production capacity doubles
