Human Resources Manager (Onsite – North County-San Diego, CA)
Full-Time | $100,000 – $130,000 Base + Bonus
A well-established, growing manufacturing company in North County San Diego is seeking a hands-on HR Manager to lead and scale the HR function. This is an urgent, high-impact role supporting ~100 local employees, with a strong emphasis on culture, compliance, and operational excellence.
This company has been in business for decades, with a reputation for employee longevity, stability, and a values-driven culture. As they continue to grow, they are looking for an HR leader who can own the function end-to-end and serve as a trusted partner to leadership.
Why This Role
- High visibility role reporting directly to executive leadership
- Opportunity to build, shape, and modernize HR in a growing organization
- Strong, people-first culture with long-tenured employees
- Ability to make an immediate impact in a business-critical position
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Compliance
- Lead all HR operations with a strong focus on California employment law compliance
- Oversee policies, procedures, employee relations, and risk mitigation
- Ensure compliance with wage & hour laws, timekeeping, and employment regulations
- Partner with leadership on HR governance and best practices
Employee Relations & Culture
- Serve as the primary HR resource for a diverse workforce
- Maintain and strengthen a strong, collaborative company culture
- Conduct investigations and advise managers on employee issues
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Own full-cycle recruiting and onboarding efforts
- Partner with hiring managers to improve hiring quality and speed
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
- Administer benefits programs and support compensation processes
- Oversee payroll in partnership with finance (hands-on involvement required)
- Manage vendor relationships (brokers, benefits providers, etc.)
Performance & HR Strategy
- Lead performance management and employee development initiatives
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning and scaling HR infrastructure
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10+ years of progressive HR experience
- Strong knowledge of California labor laws and compliance
- Proven experience in HR operations, employee relations, and recruiting
- Hands-on, self-starter mentality—someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves
- Ability to work onsite and be embedded in the business
Preferred (Not Required)
- Spanish language skills (ability to support a Spanish-speaking workforce)
- Experience in manufacturing or similar environments
- HR certification (SHRM, PHR, etc.)
Ideal Candidate Profile
This role is perfect for someone who:
- Wants ownership of the HR function, not just a piece of it
- Thrives in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
- Values company culture and employee engagement as much as compliance
- Is equally comfortable in strategy and day-to-day execution
