Job Description
Powder Coat Supervisor
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Powder Coat Supervisor to oversee daily operations within our powder coating department. This individual will be responsible for leading a team, ensuring production goals are met, maintaining quality standards, and driving safety and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with powder coating systems, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily powder coat department operations, including pretreatment, coating, curing, unloading, packaging, and material flow
- Lead, train, schedule, and manage department employees to meet production and quality goals
- Operate, monitor, adjust, and troubleshoot powder coating equipment including automatic booths, reclaim systems, powder guns, conveyors, and curing ovens
- Ensure proper powder application, adhesion, film build, cure quality, color consistency, and finish standards
- Coordinate production priorities with management and other departments to maintain workflow and on-time delivery
- Enforce safety policies, PPE requirements, housekeeping standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and OSHA compliance
- Monitor department performance, powder usage, waste, rework, and efficiency metrics
- Manage employee attendance, performance, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed
- Coordinate preventative maintenance activities and communicate equipment repair needs to minimize downtime
- Maintain inventory levels of powders, masking materials, hooks, plugs, and other department consumables
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, labor efficiency, and cost reduction
Qualifications
- Previous experience in powder coating, industrial finishing, painting, or a related manufacturing environment
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Strong understanding of powder coating processes, equipment, and quality standards
- Experience troubleshooting production equipment and resolving process issues
- Knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
