Job Description
Position Summary:
Under supervision, prepares metal fabricated parts for painting by performing various surface operations such as cleaning, stripping, and masking.
Essential Functions of the Job:
• Applies masking to articles.
• Cleans and prepares surface of articles to be painted using solvent, sand paper, wire brush and scraper.
• Sanding, grinding, spackling, taping, cleaning parts//materials as necessary.
• Positions articles in jigs or erects ladders and scaffolds.
• Loads and moves materials to work area using manual process and overhead hoist/cranes. Transports painted articles to and from paint booth and drying booth. Racks parts in racks, and transfers finished pieces to the appropriate area (mechanical assembly).
• Cleans spray and drying chamber, tanks, hoses, and nozzles.
• Effectively and safety operate sanders, grinders, paint guns, as well as other tools.
• Must be familiar with sanders, grinders, etc. as well as other tools and equipment used, and products used in the paint process.
• Maintains a neat, clean and organized work area.
• Performs minor repairs as needed prior to paint application process.
• Cleans spraying equipment and paint booth area with solvent and replaces screens and filters.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
Knowledge of characteristics of paint helpful.
Ability to wear all required PPE.
Education and Experience:
One to six months experience in similar position and/or in a manufacturing environment.

• Work around fumes or airborne particles
• Work around toxic or caustic chemicals
Work performed in a loud manufacturing environment
