Mon-Friday 7am - 3:30pm | Comp: $35 - $40 per hour | Contract-to-Hire
About the Role
Join a precision-driven aerospace manufacturing team in Tacoma, WA as an Aerospace Tooling Inspector. You'll own dimensional inspection using Laser Tracker systems (Leica, Faro) and play a direct role in keeping tooling, fixtures, and assemblies compliant with aerospace quality standards. This is a hands-on role with real impact — your work keeps critical programs on spec and on schedule.
What You'll Do
- Perform dimensional inspection of aerospace tooling, jigs, fixtures, and assemblies using Laser Tracker systems
- Conduct 3D measurement and alignment verification against engineering specifications and CAD models
- Develop and execute inspection plans from engineering drawings
- Generate detailed inspection reports and quality documentation
- Perform tool certifications and re-certifications
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action (RCA/CAPA) activities
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve tooling discrepancies
- Maintain calibration records and proper care of metrology equipment
What You Bring
Required:
- 3+ years of aerospace tooling inspection experience
- Hands-on Laser Tracker operation (Leica, Faro, or equivalent)
- Strong GD&T knowledge and blueprint/engineering drawing interpretation
- Experience with metrology software such as Verisurf
- Ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
- Technical degree or certification in metrology, manufacturing, or a related field
- Experience with aircraft tooling types: molds, trim tools, jigs, fixtures, and assemblies
- Familiarity with CATIA, SolidWorks, or other CAD platforms
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on an active production floor around large tooling structures
- Lift up to 25 lbs; stand for extended periods
