Job Summary:

The Scheduler position is located at our U.S. Corporate Headquarters in Gastonia, NC. The person in this role will develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule, and the detailed Production Schedule. Coordinate and maintain, in conjunction, with all departments to ensure corporate planning objectives are met. Assist in Sales Order scheduling and participate in systems enhancements.
Main Tasks
· Prepare, submit and conduct the weekly production capacity vs market requirement proposal, MPS, to management, develop daily/weekly plan based on all factors of manpower, plant capacity, material lead-time, order reservations, and machine limiting rules though the Data Collection System (Hydra System)
· Manage the near and mid-term planning information to manage unforecasted demand, forecast production shortfalls, and inventory changes to support the inventory building plan.
· Prepare, submit, and facilitate all SAP PP business related upgrades through SAP PP Business leader responsibilities
· Validate the success of the MRP run. Coordinate problem resolution as required with Purchasing, SAP, Manufacturing, and Sales teams.
· Responsible for maintaining inventory levels in accordance with company policy. Support the disposition of obsolete and slow-moving inventory, when required.
· Manage TCR, and NPI implementation with Purchasing and Production, for assigned products. Interfaces with Engineering when necessary to understand engineering changes. Recommend changes as required.
· Manage with Purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality to identify and resolve shortage conditions by assuring raw materials and sub-assemblies are on schedule, prioritizing and expediting when necessary.
· Monitor the daily production output, and work with manufacturing, to adjust production levels to obtain agreed production plan levels.
· Work with appropriate areas, including QA, Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing to ensure smooth new product launches.
· Travel to customers, and other Stabilus centers of operations as required.
· Review and plan all TLN’s along with the required sub-assemblies weekly.
· Review excess inventory programs to minimize excess inventory.
· Review TLN exception messages to assure all customers’ requirements are met.
· Review and adjust manufacturing lead-times, in SAP, to ensure customer delivery commitments are met.
· Coordinate all sales interventions (increases and decreases) with sales and manufacturing.
· Plan and approve weekly pilot builds in coordination with the Customer Service and Production preparation.
· Review planned orders through the planning horizon and perform a rough-cut capacity plan to ensure that future weeks are leveled to agreed capacity levels.
· Prepare and submit the weekly production capacity vs. market requirement proposal, MPS, to management. The proposal will take into consideration all factors; including manufacturing capacity and sales demand, to achieve a balanced plan by product group using the Bucket System methodology.
· Convert the proposed plan to production orders using all auto creation programs.
· Monitor and control finished goods inventory to agreed company levels.
· Reviews master schedule and the production plan, and coordinates execution in manufacturing.
· Develop a daily plan based on all factors of manpower, plant capacity, material lead-time, order reservations, and machine limiting rules though the Data Collection System (Hydra System).
· Monitor the daily production output, and work with manufacturing, to adjust production levels to obtain agreed production plan levels.
· Optimize production orders, and containment driven orders as required to meet manufacturing plans.
· Coordinate all STMX support for finished goods, and sub-assemblies to achieve the manufacturing plan.
Secondary Tasks
· Provide leadership role in development, and implementation of SAP and related systems.
· Provide training as required to all associates in SAP PP, and related systems.
· Coordinate MPS meetings to advise sales, logistics, and manufacturing on activities.
· Ability to understand APICS journals and recommend improvements based on Best Business Practices.
· Prepare reports as required to manufacturing
· Provide direction to lower-level planners, as required
· Provides statuses as required for the above activities
· Coordinate all STMX support for finished goods, and sub-assemblies to achieve the manufacturing plan
· Sales forecasting and STRAP plan construction, and maintenance
· Provide leadership role in all customer related Logistics topics
· Other duties as required by Manager
Education, Training, Certifications
· 4-year degree in a business or engineering discipline.
· In-lieu of education, then APIC’s (CPIM) certification plus 8 years planning experience is required.
· In-lieu of APIC’s (CPIM) certification, then 15 years planning experience is required.
Experience
· Requires 4 years’ manufacturing scheduling experience in a discrete manufacturing environment.
· Knowledge of SAP production scheduling systems, including shop floor control, master scheduling, MPS, MRP, MRPII, and Bill of Material structure.
· Knowledge of production machine limiting rules, and product/process flow.
Job Knowledge and Skills
· Software Skills: Detailed understanding of computers, and Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. Demonstrated ability to function in the planning aspects of SAP PP, and MM.
· Interpersonal skills: Strong written, and oral communication skills along with the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fundamental algebra and geometric techniques.
· Supervisory Skills: Demonstrated ability to coordinate with manufacturing to prioritize production orders to achieve 100% on time deliveries.
· Contact with Others: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with manufacturing associates on the production floor.
· Resourcefulness and Initiative: Demonstrated responsiveness to internal and external customer requests, and requirements.
Accountability / Impact of Errors
· Accountability: The scheduler is responsible for the correct planning of customer requirements to ensure that timely deliveries are met in time.
· Impact of Errors: The impact of the errors will result in efficiency reductions, unplanned overtime, expedite charges, and poor vendor ratings from our customers.
· Confidential Data: The scheduler will have information associated with the short-term planning horizon of the facility and have access to key production drawing data.
Working Conditions
· Physical Effort: The scheduler will demonstrate the ability to support manufacturing, and quality by lift materials not to exceed 25 kg. The need to travel to a subsidiary or customer will be required.
· Mental Effort: The scheduler will demonstrate the necessary processes of problem analysis, organization, and consequences to support the production plan and customer requirements.
· Visual Effort: The scheduler will appear professionally dressed and organized.
