Job Description
Material Handler Heavy Lifting – 1st Shift (Cudahy, WI)
Pay: $17.77/hr to start, with a higher hire‐in rate after 6 months
Shift: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9‐hour days (30‐minute lunch + two 15‐minute breaks)
Benefits: Full union benefits + pension plan after 6 months
Position Overview
We are seeking a Material Handler Heavy Lifting professional for a physically demanding role in a record‐center environment. This position requires constant movement, manual box handling, and the ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver materials weighing from 24 lbs up to 100+ lbs throughout the entire shift.
The Material Handler Heavy Lifting role is ideal for individuals who enjoy fast‐paced, physical work and can perform repetitive lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing.
Primary Responsibilities
- Move, lift, carry, load, and arrange boxes, bins, totes, files, binders, books, and backup tapes
- Manually handle boxes weighing 10–100 lbs without assistance
- Use hand carts, pallet jacks, and other material‐handling tools on concrete and uneven surfaces
- Load and shrink‐wrap pallets at ground level or on carts
- Load boxes onto pallets and load pallets onto trucks manually
- Operate handheld scanners and proprietary computer systems to track and locate materials
- Read and process incoming and outgoing orders
- Climb and balance on ladders
- Walk, stand, kneel, squat, stoop, and bend for extended periods
- Work independently to grip, lift, push, pull, and carry boxes up and down stairs and inclines
Essential Requirements
- Ability to perform Material Handler Heavy Lifting tasks for the full shift
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs repeatedly
- Ability to read and write English
- Ability to work safely on uneven surfaces
- Ability to operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other material‐handling equipment
- Must wear protective footwear meeting ASTM F2413‐11 safety‐toe standards with “Better” or “Best” slip‐resistance rating
