Job Description
The Dean of Students – Academics is responsible for implementing programs and systems that promote a positive, safe, and respectful school culture while ensuring a seamless student experience from enrollment through graduation. This role supports students in enrollment processes, creating strong academic plans, and navigating key transitions throughout their high school journey; provides strategic guidance in course selection, credit attainment, and postsecondary planning, while overseeing the accuracy and management of academic records, transcripts, and scheduling systems; serves as a primary liaison for families, ensuring clear and consistent communication, addressing questions and concerns, and fostering student success through collaborative problem-solving and support; communicates effectively with parents, faculty, and instructional leaders to ensure accurate sharing of student information and to support a cohesive, student-centered approach to enrollment, records management, and academic progress; supports students in developing interpersonal skills and strong responsible decision making; communicates with parents the most up to date information about enrollment and academics; cultivates the leadership potential of the student body by developing and implementing programs and strategies to promote positive social growth and awareness (i.e. Student Council, Community Groups, Citizen of the Week, School Assemblies, etc.); serves as a member of the PLA student support services team to address concerns about enrollment, attendance issues related to drops and academic issues; assists faculty and staff in supervising student behavior and safety at building entrance, parking lots, lunchroom, assembly rooms, and all campus areas; supervises and coordinates all Senior activities (FAFSA Parent Nights, Prom, Luncheon, Senior Fun Day, Graduation etc.); leads and oversees all schoolwide assessments that effectively meet the needs of our students (STAR, ACT, SAT, ALEKS); leads and oversees school schedules (Master Schedule, Student Schedule) and maintains accurate records of credit attainment; responsible for all enrollments/drops/lunch forms/ grade changes and medical compliance which includes all it entails; oversees Aspen and PowerSchool; completes enrollment documentation; receives and sends students records; hosts Mentoring and Enrichment support sessions; and; performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
● Minimum of a BA
● Prior work experience with students in an educational institution/organization
● Experience facilitating workshops, training, and/or classes geared toward students and parents
● Ability to interpret test results and other student data
● Ability to work in varied populations
● Being able to work as a team member
● Exhibit superior interpersonal and problem-solving skills
● Independent worker, self-starter, ability to multitask
● Punctual, deadline oriented
● Familiarity with Microsoft Office and internet
● Available to work flexible schedule (some mornings, some evenings)
