Key Responsibilities:
• Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine and demand mechanical maintenance on commercial air conditioners, chillers, boilers, air handlers, compressors, and pumps.
• Troubleshooting & Overhauls: Diagnose mechanical problems, perform mechanical overhauls, order parts, and replace components like motors, fans, bearings, seals, and belts.
• Specialized Tasks: Execute brazing and soldering of heating/cooling coils, and install refrigeration equipment according to engineering standards.
• Controls & Data Tracking: Apply HVAC/R control theory to air handling systems and utilize CMMS functions to track maintenance and PM activities.
• Safety & Compliance: Strictly follow GMP, EPA, FDA, and company safety guidelines to prevent equipment downtime, massive product loss, or hazards.
• Team Collaboration: Work as a multi-skilled tradesperson, actively participate in productivity meetings, and act as a crew lead on larger projects when assigned.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, operating systems, and basic electrical devices associated with unit controls.
- Ability to utilize vacuum/pressure gauges, leak detectors, torque wrenches, multi-meters, and amp meters.
- Strong ability to evaluate resources, make knowledgeable decisions regarding safety, and work independently.
- Proven ability to work well with others in a heavy industrial commercial work environment.
- Understanding of HVAC/R control theory and application to air handling systems.
Preferred Education & Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of formal training and work experience in commercial or industrial HVAC/R system maintenance.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Federal EPA Certification for refrigerant reclaiming equipment operation and proper usage/disposal is strongly preferred.
