Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil Drafting Manager to establish, lead, and continuously improve a drafting team that supports a growing civil engineering practice. This position combines technical expertise, leadership, innovation, and process improvement to ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering drawings and models while driving drafting excellence across the organization.

The ideal candidate will be a Civil 3D subject matter expert who is passionate about developing standards, mentoring team members, implementing technology solutions, and improving drafting workflows to support successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the preparation, coordination, and quality control of civil engineering drawings and models utilizing Civil 3D.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve company-wide drafting standards, templates, and best practices.
• Create and manage custom tools, automation features, and workflow enhancements to improve efficiency, consistency, and accuracy.
• Research, evaluate, and implement emerging software, technologies, and drafting methodologies that enhance team capabilities.
• Serve as a technical resource and problem solver for complex drafting and design challenges.
• Train, mentor, and support engineers, designers, and drafting technicians on Civil 3D standards, workflows, and best practices.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to optimize project workflows and ensure deliverables meet project requirements and quality expectations.
• Establish quality assurance and quality control procedures for drafting deliverables.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, standardization, and innovation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience utilizing Civil 3D in a civil engineering environment.
• Strong proficiency in Civil 3D and civil drafting workflows, including:
• • Land surveying
  • Site development plans
  • Grading and drainage plans
  • Utility layouts and profiles
  • Roadway and infrastructure projects
• Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, design standards, and drafting practices.
• Experience developing CAD standards, templates, libraries, and automation tools.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to train, mentor, and support technical teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Compensation

Salary Range: $90,000 – $105,000 annually

Performance-based bonus opportunities may be available based on individual and company performance.
