Responsibilities:
Efficiently and safely collect urine samples from patients, ensuring proper identification and documentation.
Conduct observed and unobserved specimen collections following established protocols, including bathroom observations as per physician orders.
Properly label, process, and prepare specimens for shipment to the laboratory.
Conduct specimen pickups at designated locations on scheduled days, utilizing reliable transportation.
Maintain neat and organized work and patient areas to ensure compliance with safety and confidentiality standards.
Follow all universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations when handling specimens.
Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and clinic staff, demonstrating compassion and professionalism.
Assist with sample processing, office supply management, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Report any deviations or issues during shifts to supervising staff promptly.
Required Skills:
Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service.
Strong work ethic and reliability.
Capable of managing multiple computer programs, Windows environment, email, and report documentation with high accuracy.
Fast and precise data entry skills.
Clear, confident, and effective communication abilities.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform activities such as walking, bending, and kneeling.
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience in a clinical laboratory setting, medical assisting, or healthcare-related roles.
Knowledge of specimen collection procedures and OSHA standards.
Familiarity with HIPAA and patient confidentiality protocols.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience in specimen collection, phlebotomy, or healthcare support roles preferred.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) or laboratory information systems is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Availability to work Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Fridays from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, totaling approximately 36.5 hours per week.
Must have dependable transportation for sample pickups at two additional locations on scheduled days.
Dress code: Solid color medical scrubs and closed-toe shoes.
Must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical activities including walking, sitting, bending, and squatting.
This is a temporary, ongoing position with an indefinite assignment duration. Compensation ranges from $18.00 to $19.00 per hour.
