Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An exciting opportunity awaits a compassionate and skilled educator to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students across a variety of grade levels. This full-time, contract position spans the 2026-2027 academic year, from August 17, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours and general working hours between 8AM and 4PM. Hours are adaptable to accommodate collaboration and service across both elementary and secondary levels.

This role is fully onsite, offering hands-on engagement and meaningful interaction. A caseload of approximately ten students, ranging from 1st through 12th grade, provides an enriching teaching environment and opportunities to impact students’ academic growth and communication skills. Travel professionals with a passion for education are encouraged to apply, and travel for onsite services may be reimbursed.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Alaska teaching license, or pending application (please supply proof or Type C certification documentation)
  • Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is strongly preferred
  • Ability to adjust teaching strategies for diverse age ranges and individualized needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, adapt, and deliver curriculum to meet the academic and communication needs of DHH students
  • Collaborate with general educators, support staff, and families
  • Conduct assessments, develop IEPs, and track student progress
  • Advocate for inclusive practices and accommodations
