Job Title: Electrical Technician
Job Description

This role focuses on assembling precision electrical units and sub-assemblies primarily used in avionics and military applications, including drones and UAVs. You will build wire harnesses, electro-mechanical boxes, connectors, panel assemblies, and smaller electrical wiring assemblies while working from detailed blueprints and schematics. The position offers hands-on, bench-based work where you see projects through from start to finish in a clean, quiet, and well-organized shop.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical units and sub-assemblies used in avionics and military applications, including drones and UAVs.
  • Build wire harnesses, electro-mechanical boxes, connectors, panel builds, and smaller electrical wiring assemblies.
  • Perform extensive wire harness building, especially when starting, to learn the processes, products, and quality expectations.
  • Use a variety of hand tools such as crimpers, cutters, small screwdrivers, and soldering equipment to complete assemblies.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and wiring diagrams to route and trace wires accurately.
  • Measure components and materials using both metric and standard tape measures to ensure precise cuts and layouts.
  • Perform soldering work on electrical components and assemblies in accordance with project requirements.
  • Assemble small parts with a high level of attention to detail to ensure quality, reliability, and consistency.
  • Follow project timelines and complete assigned builds within required schedules while working at a steady and consistent pace.
  • See projects through from start to finish, ensuring that each assembly meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Contribute to the production of a large volume of custom-built wire harnesses for a multi-unit aircraft program.
Essential Skills
  • Previous electrical experience in areas such as panel wiring and wire harness building.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools including crimpers, cutters, small screwdrivers, and other small assembly tools.
  • Demonstrated soldering experience suitable for production electrical assemblies.
  • Ability to read a tape measure in both metric and standard units.
  • Strong attention to detail when working with small parts and complex wiring.
  • Comfort with electrical wiring and assembly work in a bench environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Completion of a two-year technical program in Electronics Technology, Automation, Robotics, or a related field is welcome.
  • Experience with small parts assembly and precision work is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with crimping techniques for electrical connectors and terminals.
  • Ability to work independently once trained, producing quality work with minimal oversight.
  • Comfort working on long-running projects that involve multiple custom wire harness builds.
Why Work Here?

You will join a clean, well-organized, and quiet shop where you can focus on high-quality, hands-on work. The schedule offers flexibility once you are trained, including the option of every other Friday off and start times that can be adjusted within a set range. You can enjoy listening to music with earbuds after demonstrating consistent quality, and you will have the satisfaction of seeing each project through from start to finish. The environment supports working at a steady pace while still meeting project timelines, providing a balanced and engaging work experience.

Work Environment

This is a bench assembly environment where you can sit for most tasks and focus on detailed electrical work. The shop is described as nice, clean, and generally quiet, allowing for concentration on precision assemblies. Work primarily involves bench-based wiring, soldering, and small parts assembly using hand tools such as crimpers, cutters, and soldering equipment. The initial training schedule runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the first two weeks, after which there is flexibility to choose a start time, typically between 5:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., within operational needs. The schedule includes every other Friday off, and once you consistently produce quality work with minimal guidance, you may listen to music using earbuds while working. The role involves contributing to a large-scale program, building custom wire harnesses for a series of aircraft units.
