Medical Technologist – Clinical Laboratory (Travel)
Facility: Northside Hospital Cherokee
Location: Canton, GA 30115
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 PM – 7:30 AM (10-hour nights)
On-Call: Not required
Specialty: Clinical Laboratory (Generalist)
Candidate Type: Travel only
Location Restriction: No local candidates within 50 miles
Job Summary
The Medical Technologist performs high-complexity clinical laboratory testing to support diagnosis and patient care across all age groups. This role requires strong generalist competency in core laboratory disciplines within a high-volume acute care hospital environment.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience in specialty
Active certification required: ASCP, AMT, or AAB
Must be Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certified
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) candidates will not be considered
Cerner experience required
Responsibilities
Perform high-complexity testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and blood bank as applicable
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and analyzers
Perform quality control procedures and ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, and hospital standards
Validate and report patient results accurately and within required turnaround times
Investigate specimen issues, abnormal results, and instrument errors
Support transfusion services and blood bank workflows as needed
Communicate critical results to clinical staff
Maintain accurate documentation for regulatory compliance
Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams
Preferred
Experience in high-acuity or trauma hospital settings
Strong blood bank and transfusion service experience
Prior Cerner LIS experience in a hospital laboratory
Strong background in QA/QC and regulatory inspections
