Job Summary:
As the Construction Foreman you will ultimately be responsible for leading underground utility construction crews, coordinating excavation projects, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and within project scope. You will manage field crews, subcontractors, equipment, and schedules while delivering quality construction services. As the Construction Foreman, your customers are project managers, utility providers, inspectors, and general contractors, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through leadership, safety compliance, and operational execution.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
• Coordinate daily construction tasks according to priorities, plans, and project schedules
• Lead excavation crews to safely complete underground utility construction projects while meeting timelines and profit margins
• Delegate responsibilities to crew members and subcontractors while monitoring performance and safety
• Communicate field progress, issues, and project status updates with Project Managers and General Contractors
• Schedule material deliveries, rental equipment, and subcontractors to support project execution
• Operate heavy equipment, inspect equipment daily, and coordinate repairs as needed
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
Required Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid Driver’s License required
• OSHA 10 certification required
Experience
• Minimum 5 years of underground utility construction experience
• Experience supervising crews and subcontractors on excavation and utility projects
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, construction methods, and specifications
• Strong knowledge of OSHA guidelines, equipment operation, and construction procedures
• Strong leadership, time management, and organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and coordination
• Ability to resolve field conflicts and unexpected project delays
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with crews, leadership, inspectors, and clients
Preferred Qualifications:
• CDL Driver’s License preferred
• OSHA 30 and trench/excavation competent person certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment operating experience
• Basic computer skills
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 40 to 90 lbs.
• Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders for extended periods
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and flexible schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed
• Maintain visual and audible awareness of crew members, vehicles, and heavy equipment for safe coordination
• Safely operate company vehicles and work around heavy equipment and machinery
• Work in confined spaces and wear required PPE including boots, glasses, hard hats, and applicable safety gear
