Job Description
About the Role

At START in Rochester, MI, you’ll be the steady hand that keeps our thermoplastic molding presses running smoothly from the first cycle to the last. Picture your day as a rhythm of machine checks, precise movements, and quality-first decisions—all contributing to finished parts that meet exact specifications.

A Day in the Life

You arrive to a clean, organized work cell. After a quick handoff with your lead, you power up the press, verify settings, and scan the production board. As the machine cycles, you keep a sharp eye out for irregular sounds or motions, ready to intervene before small issues become downtime. Parts release; you remove them using the right hand tools and air hoses, then trim to spec and record cycle time and part counts with accuracy.

Throughout the shift, you perform autonomous maintenance routines, keep the area spotless, and communicate with your supervisor to coordinate priorities. You finish the day the way you started—upholding department guidelines, safety, and quality standards, with every production sheet filled out completely and correctly.

What You’ll Handle
  • Operate and monitor injection molding presses; start, stop, and observe cycles to catch malfunctions early.
  • Use press controls to compress compounds between molds to form and cure parts to specification.
  • Demold finished components using hand tools and air hoses; trim and finish to quality requirements.
  • Follow department guidelines and rigorous quality criteria at all times.
  • Execute autonomous maintenance tasks to sustain reliable machine performance.
  • Report cycle times and part counts; complete production sheets and hourly boards accurately.
  • Maintain an orderly, safe work cell; clean machines and surrounding areas routinely.
  • Coordinate with leads and supervisors to align on instructions and production goals.
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs consistently over extended periods and stand throughout the shift.
  • Previous quality experience preferred.
  • Comfort working around fiberglass materials (tolerance required).
  • Familiarity with basic machine controls and safe operation.

Join START in Rochester, MI and take pride in creating reliable molded products while growing your technical confidence on the press.
