Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• Emergency Department experience required
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips
• Experience caring for ventilated patients
• Trauma experience preferred; current TNCC certification required
• Experience managing a variety of emergency and trauma patients
• Strong critical thinking and prioritization skills

Unit Information

• 30-bed Emergency Department
• 1 trauma bay with 2 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• Charge nurse available and generally does not take patient assignments
• Nurse aides available based on staffing and census

Schedule & Requirements

• Every other weekend required
• Holidays rotated with core staff
• First to float
• Floating may occur to other facilities within the Sacramento market
• Shift start time: 6:45 PM
• Self-scheduling available (subject to manager approval)
• Overtime and extra shifts may be available

Clinical Environment

• Telemetry patients; EKG interpretation required
• Ventilator patients
• Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage available
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• Primary trauma center serving the area
• Psych hold patients cared for with security support when needed

Charting & Orientation

• EMR: Cerner

 

• Two supervisor references required at submission (charge nurse references accepted)
• One reference must be from within the last 12 months
• One reference must be from within the last 3 years

Additional Requirements

• Relias Dysrhythmia (Basic) Exam required within 24–48 hours of acceptance if not completed within the last 12 months
• Maximum of two attempts allowed
• Screenshot showing number of attempts is required
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the past year (agency PRN experience acceptable)
