Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking a Virginia-licensed Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in Pennington Gap, Virginia. This hospital-based Emergency Department role provides full-spectrum emergency care with board-certified or board-eligible clinical credentials and includes supervision of nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Opportunity Details

• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens

• Patient Volume: Approximately 12,000 encounters annually
• Coverage Model: 12-hour shifts with mid-level coverage

Clinical Scope

• Emergency Department evaluation, stabilization, treatment, and disposition
• Acute medical and traumatic patient management
• Procedural emergency care as required by the Emergency Department
• Admissions, transfers, and discharge coordination
• Documentation and order entry using Epic EMR
• Supervision of nurse practitioners and physician assistants

Schedule Details

• 12-hour shifts (mid-level coverage also provided)

Practice Environment

• Hospital Emergency Department setting
• Epic EMR used for clinical documentation and order entry

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Virginia medical license
• DEA registration
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
• Graduate of an accredited MD or DO medical school
• Completion of an approved 3-year residency program in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
• ACLS, ATLS, and PALS (or NRP if applicable for non-EM certified providers)
• Ability to supervise nurse practitioners and physician assistants
• Recent or ongoing Emergency Medicine experience (new graduates may be considered with a 3-month proctorship)
