Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned NICU patients ranging from feeder growers to complex ICU neonatal cases in a Level 4 NICU setting.
• Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment plans.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and connect with appropriate resources.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers, including CNA support staff, to effectively manage clinical situations; patient ratios of 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4 apply.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license.
• Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
• Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.
• Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) Certification — Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor.
• Minimum of 1 year of NICU or related neonatal nursing experience.
• Availability to meet weekend requirements: 4 weekends per six-week period, including two Mondays and two Fridays.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Experience in a Perinatal setting or completion of a Perinatal RN Residency program.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-acuity neonatal patients independently.
