Key Responsibilities- Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned NICU patients ranging from feeder growers to complex ICU neonatal cases in a Level 4 NICU setting.
- Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment plans.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and connect with appropriate resources.
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers, including CNA support staff, to effectively manage clinical situations; patient ratios of 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4 apply.
- Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license.
- Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.
- Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) Certification — Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor.
- Minimum of 1 year of NICU or related neonatal nursing experience.
- Availability to meet weekend requirements: 4 weekends per six-week period, including two Mondays and two Fridays.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Experience in a Perinatal setting or completion of a Perinatal RN Residency program.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-acuity neonatal patients independently.
- Opportunity to work in a high-acuity Level 4 NICU environment, gaining valuable experience with a diverse neonatal patient population.
