As a Glass Handler, you will play a crucial role in the tempering process by accurately measuring and handling glass. You will read production schedules to determine the necessary items for cutting, tempering, and shipping based on your assigned workstation.
Responsibilities
- Measure glass accurately using a tape measure.
- Read production schedules to determine items to be cut, tempered, and/or shipped.
- Transfer glass lites between cutting table, edge seaming conveyors, washer, furnace load bed, and packing racks/frames depending on workstation.
- Break out cut-to-size lites of glass from large plates.
- Dispose of scrap glass pieces in designated scrap glass hoppers.
- Position glass lites on washer conveyors in preparation for tempering.
- Clean broken glass from furnace and quench as needed.
- Check customer label and place lite on designated rack or A-frame.
- Prepare complete racks/A-frames for shipment with all required paperwork.
- Load and unload glass onto tempering equipment, seam, and pack glass.
- Sort glass according to paperwork specifications.
- Adjust, clean, or repair products or equipment to correct defects.
- Reject defects like chips, burns, or corroded surfaces with proper coding.
- Notify supervisors and assist in identifying and correcting production problems.
- Properly seam glass and use Lock Out Tag Out during operations.
- Communicate with oven operator for product changeovers.
- Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure efficiency.
- Properly break out glass, minimizing remakes.
- Discard or reject non-specification products, materials, or equipment.
- Select samples for testing and record inspection and test data.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northfield, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.05 - $22.05/hr.
